Just seeing this now in 2022. So sad to hear of Mr. Parnell's (Jake's) passing. We were your next door neighbor's on Lawnwood in Kettering. Those are my fondest memories in life as a child on that street and I distinctly remember Mr. Parnell with his handlebar mustache and as a kid how could you ever forget that Austin Healey sports car ?!?! Orangish, I believe was the color though that was many moons ago so I could be wrong. My father Richard (Dick) Heck was born in '36 and passed in '98 and my brother Dave passed in '08. My Mom (Donna) and brother (Doug) are doing well. God bless you and your families .

Sorry to hear about Jake's passing. I was in the class of 67 and remember Jake well and was one of the teachers I really liked. Ran into many years ago in Myrtle Beach in a restaurant. I believe he was as shocked as I was. Nice to connect. RIP

I remember Jake at the 721 club and after talking with Gloria on the phone, he would say "she loves me!!!"

Jake and I were classmates and football teammates at St. Edward High School in 1955. Over the years we caught up with each other at school gatherings and class reunions. Each time, it was like the years had stood still and were those enthusiastic, boisterous teenagers again. We would talk about how he was the fastest runner in the school (a 10 second 100-yard dash) ... and I was the slowest (a 10-minute 100-yard dash). Jake was warm, engaging, humble, and fun to be with. He was a great team-mate, and a kind and considerate human being. A part of me has died with him. He will be in my daily prayers. I send out my deepest condolences to Gloria, Stacey, Nikki, Jacqueline and Tony. May he rest in peace.

I was fortunate to know Mr Parnell during my time at Alter High School. He was always kind and had the ability that made him easy to respect and consider a friend.
RIP
