Joseph Smith Obituary

Joseph F. Smith, age 89, of Galion passed away Tuesday March 18, 2025 at Mill Creek Nursing and Rehab in Galion. Born January 27, 1936 in Crestline, he was the son of the late Dewitt and Ruby (Castle) Smith. Joe was a graduate of Leesville High School where he excelled in baseball and basketball. He graduated from Bluffton College in 1958 with a Master's Degree in Science. He taught for many years in the Ontario School system. He was a huge sports fan and loved to travel and his cats. He is survived by his two brothers Dave and Dan Smith as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister-in-law Ethel Smith. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM Friday March 21, 2025 at Richardson Davis Chapel of Snyder Funeral Homes, 218 South Market St., Galion, Ohio 44833 where services will follow at 12:00 PM with Revs. Dreama and Loyd Caudill officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
