John M. Emil Sr., 77, Dallas, passed away Sunday, April 28, 2024, at his residence.
Born in Kingston Twp., he was the son of the late Fred Emil and Melvina Emil Gray and was a graduate of Dallas High School.
John was a HVAC tech with Mahaffey Oil Company for over 25 years until his retirement. John had served his country proudly in the Air Force during the Vietnam conflict. He was a member of Daddow Isaacs Post 672 American Legion, Dallas. He was also a former commander of Post 672 as well as District 12 commander and member of the DAV. Some of his favorite activities was fishing and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Irene Shotwell, in 2022; and brother, Fred Emil.
Surviving are his sons, John Emil Jr., Luzerne; and Rodney Emil and Gavin W. Wilson, Kingston; grandchildren, Rebecca, John III and Robert; great-grandchildren, Emely and Elly Casterline; sisters, Sarah Derhammer and Betty Duda; brothers, Charles Emil and James Emil; and companion, Charlene Emel.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday from Richard H. Disque Funeral Home, 2940 Memorial Highway, Dallas, with The Rev. Dr. William Lewis officiating. Friends may call from 10 a.m. to service time. Interment will be in Chapel Lawn Memorial Park with military honors to be performed.
