Coach BROADBENT was a Great Coach and phys-ed teacher. Spent many hrs in gym with him and played on Spencerport Soccer under him. Will never forget soccer practice in August and him making us run the Cross Country coarse, got timed then had to do it again, and equal or better the 1st one or do it again. Well I did my share of multiple runs lol. RIP Coach, you were a good man. Scott Keir class of 72

Ron was the symbol of success at the helm of Spencerport soccer. He brought such honor and class to the program, we wanted to do our best for him and we hated to lose. We felt like we had let him down. Playing soccer for coach Broadbent was something else. Our pitch was nicer than what the Lancers played on he made sure of it. I remember one time when I had broken one of my fingers in a game and came to practice the next day and showed up in school clothes, Ron looked at me and said "what are you doing?" I told him I had broken my finger, he said "go get dressed for practice, tape those fingers together and get back our here". He didn't baby us one bit. He would also employ Ron Zorn (track coach) to train us in pre-season, we were the most fit soccer team in the country.
I was the goalie for the 76 and 77 Rangers and didn't realize until today that we shared the same birthday too.
RIP coach, thanks for the lessons and memories.
