On July 14, 2025, Natalie Ann (Jankow) Prouty, 84 of Beverly Hills, Florida, was promoted to Heaven.
Natalie was a godly woman who loved the Lord, and her family, and set an example for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren that will lead them all their lives.
Natalie was born in Glen Cove, Long Island on October 6, 1940 to the late Michael Jankow & Lena (Shawiak) Jankow. She was married for 25 years to the late Gary A. Prouty. Natalie loved her Savior, the Lord Jesus, with all her heart, and she loved God's Word.
Though she was a humble, gentle woman, Natalie was nonetheless a powerful prayer warrior, and only heaven knows what a wonderful and eternal impact all her many years of faithful praying have had on her family, her friends, and the world at large. She was a member of Gulf to Lake Baptist Church, Crystal River, Florida for over two decades!
Her life could be broken down into three distinct chapters: 1) New York, 2) New Hampshire and 3) Florida.
Natalie grew up in Westbury, Long Island, with friends and family around her, enjoying their home, spiritual life, and their summer home in Hampton Bays, Long Island. She knew the Shinnecock Inlet & buoys by heart. Her Senior year of high school the family lived in their Miami home, where Natalie graduated from Miami High School after a lifetime spent in Westbury, Long Island schools.
Natalie loved boating and deep-sea fishing, and up until the last weeks of her life still regaled stories about that huge tuna she caught in Hampton Bays with her dad by her side, taking hours to reel it in when she was a teenager. She loved her beautiful Chris-Craft boat "Micro" that she spent all her free time on, and often said she had a wonderful, childhood always a tomboy.
Natalie made her home in Charlestown, New Hampshire for over 25 years working for the Fall Mountain Regional School District as their financial guru in the Superintendent's Office.
A friend to everyone, very active in her church and very proud to live next-door to Pudgie Fisks parents – she loved her Red Sox & Tampa Bay Rays, and when she did not have Fox News on the TV or Klystron 9 weather – There would be major league baseball or golf tournaments going in the background.
McDonald's hamburgers, her love of Tom Selleck, Dunkin' Donuts strawberry frosted donuts, Hershey's chocolate bars, and a good cup of Maxwell House coffee with half & half and four sugars were constants. Natalie got her hair washed and roller set almost every week although she was famous for having a baseball hat on when she wasn't all dressed up which totally flattened her new do.
After retiring from the Superintendent's Office, Natalie worked in elementary schools in Charlestown part-time, just to be around the kids.
Moving to Beverly Hills, Florida in 1999, she immediately started a fulfilling life with the church community, and working for Citrus County as a fill-in secretary in all of the departments. In her later years she volunteered for the County every Thursday doing filing until six months ago.
A huge accomplishment was participating in the Citrus County Sheriff's Office (CCSO) Citizens' Academy a hands-on, interactive, behind-the-scenes look at the inner workings of the Sheriff's Office. A 12-week educational series of classes taught by experienced sheriff's officials who shared their unique perspective on law enforcement. This culminated in a ride in the county helicopter and getting to know the 911 facility.
Natalie loved people, loved driving, loved her close friends and neighbors … And adored her Yorkshire terriers. She could always be seen driving her little Kia, ripping up the roads of Citrus County with either Annie, Abby, or Skeeter on her lap.
She leaves behind her daughter Debra L. (Hamel) Gay & her Husband Douglas J. Gay of Citrus Hills, Fl; her Sister Elaine (Jankow) Zaino of Plant City, FL; daughter-in-law Sherri Prouty, Spring Hill, FL; lights of her life – her Grandchildren- Leeanne A. (Hamel) Coutts, Marlborough, NH; Lucas N. Hamel, Deerfeld, MA; Matthew Prouty and Andrew Prouty, Spring Hill, FL.; Several nephews & a niece; and her little Blessings – those funny, adorable and active great Grandsons Avery, Everett, Oliver, William & Bowen.
Natalie was predeceased by her precious son, Rev. Philip M. Prouty, Spring Hill, Fl; brother Eugene 'Genie' Jankow of W Islip, NY; Husband Gary A. Prouty, Charlestown, NH.
There will be a service at Gulf To Lake Baptist Church on Monday, August 4, 2025 at 11:00 AM with light refreshments afterwards.
There will be a small service in October at the family cemetery plot in Springfield Vermont.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to: CHILDREN'S MINISTRY – Gulf To Lake Church, 1454 N. Gulf Ave., Crystal River, Florida, 34429. Similar to Jesus, Natalie loved the little children of the world, and served her church for over two decades in this capacity.
