Sharon Wagoner Obituary

Sharon Lynn Wagoner HOLDEN BEACH - Sharon Lynn Wagoner, redeemed child of God, won her battle over cancer on March 26, 2014, and now resides in her heavenly home. She was born on Aug. 7, 1951, as a twin daughter of Helen Hice Ballard and Lauder Wright Ballard in Roanoke, Va. Sharon was baptized at Ascension Lutheran Church in Charlotte and was confirmed there as well. She graduated from Independence High School in Charlotte and received her bachelors degree in Education from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where she was crowned the first Miss Forty-Niner. She worked for several years on the staff at UNCC and later at UNC Chapel Hill. On Aug. 2, 1975, she married "Buddy" Bruce Wagoner, Jr. at Ascension Lutheran Church. They had two wonderful children they have been very proud of, and lived during their almost 39 years of marriage in Charlotte, Sanford, Durham, Concord, Cincinnati, Ohio, Marietta, Ga., Kannapolis, and Holden Beach, where they have resided for the last seven years. Sharon and Buddy are members of the church that she truly loved, Sharon United Methodist Church in Supply, where she sang in the choir and assisted in other ministries of the church. Preceding her are her mother, father and older sister Diane Ballard Seegers. Surviving is her devoted husband, Buddy; her daughter Lesley Brooke Smith and son-in-law Cleve of Birmingham, Ala.; her son Bruce Daniel Wagoner III of Washington, D.C.; twin sister Karen Lee Norby of Winston-Salem; older brother Donald M. Ballard of Southern Shores and her beloved dog Shelby. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, March 30th, 2014, at Sharon United Methodist Church, 2030 Holden Beach Road, Supply.
