Willie Price Obituary

Willie Edward Price, 72, of Springfield, Illinois, passed away on December 12, 2024, at Springfield Memorial Hospital. Born on June 5, 1952, in Tchula, Mississippi, Willie was the son of Louis and Mattie Price. He was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, who will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Willie lived a life dedicated to his family and work. He was a skilled driver and took pride in his occupation as a livery driver serving the community with transportation to and from places. Willie had a high school education from Phillips High School in Chicago, IL and was known for his kindness and generosity. He cherished his relationships with family and friends, especially his favorite cousin, Charles Bush. In his leisure time, Willie found joy in watching westerns and playing spades. He was an avid sports fan, particularly enjoying basketball. Willie also had a deep love for old school music, especially the classic dusties that brought him so much joy. He is survived by his loving children: Angelia Handley, Willie Garrett (Myrtle), Barbara Simmons (Michael), Lamar Jennings (Sara), Lachundra Price, Laronda Price (Jesse), Kawana Burns, Ida Wheeler, Willie Johnson, and Sabrina Price. Willie was blessed with siblings who were a significant part of his life: Mae Martin, Mary (Charles) Matthews, Pamela (Larry) Roberson, and Lavonda (Errol) Watts, one aunt, Elizabeth Berry, and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Willie was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, his brother and sisters, Carl Price, Jimmy Price, Betty Ann Price, Georgia Jiles, and Linda Price, along with his aunts and uncles. Willie Edward Price will forever be remembered for his warmth, humor, and the love he shared with his family and friends. May he rest in peace.
