Michael Meiler Obituary

Michael Allen Meiler

Age: 51

Michael Allen Meiler, age 51, passed away on Thursday January 26, 2017 suddenly and unexpectedly.

He leaves behind his parents Eugene and Florence Meiler, his younger siblings, brother Robert Meiler and sister Lee Meiler. His nieces Pamela, Cherise and Natalie. He is survived by his beloved daughter Emily Jade Meiler of Chorley, Lancashire England.

Michael graduated from Rice Memorial High School, where he helped lead the very first varsity tennis team to victory in the state championship. He also played varsity basketball and football.

Michael was a much loved father, son and brother. He was also loved by his many friends and extended family of cousins.

The eldest of three children, he was a natural born leader of pranks and jokes, he never allowed anyone in his presence to ever be bored. He was able to find humor in any situation and the absurdity in everyone, including himself. A natural optimist, the nickname he earned in high school 'Smiley' said it all. It would follow him the rest of his life, wherever he found himself.

He followed his dreams of travel from a young age spending time all over the United States and overseas in Australia and Europe. He finally settled in England for the last 15 years, where he welcomed the birth of his daughter, his 'Half-Yank' Emily. There he also embraced the world of soccer cheering on his team, Liverpool.

He returned to the state of Vermont in early 2016 reconnecting with many of his old friends and several of his cousins. And as always, making new friends along the way.

A lifelong fan of American Football, he joyously followed his much loved Miami Dolphins into this years playoffs.

Michael followed the path his life took without hesitation, taking on each of life's changes and challenges with enthusiasm and an eye always to the best life had to offer.

His family extends a special thanks to Tom Marx, his lifelong mentor and friend. To John Dupee, Lance McKee and Chris Fennell who stood with Michael thru thick and thin and stand with his family now.

His family invites all who knew and loved Michael to attend any and all services they wish.
