Molly High Obituary
Molly Lee (Cathcart) High, 47
Molly Lee High (née Cathcart) was born on March 27, 1977, in Bonners Ferry, Idaho, and died on September 4, 2024, at her home in Warren, Massachusetts. She was 47.
To sum up Molly in a few neat words would be impossible - and deeply unlike her.
Molly was bold, complicated, generous, and fiercely loyal when she wanted to be. She had a presence you couldn't ignore; if she wasn't lighting up the room, she was burning it down. She lived with intensity, heart, and the kind of spirit that rarely came in small doses. She was a force - strong-willed, magnetic, unapologetically herself, and unforgettable.
She had an uncanny ability to make you feel like the only person that mattered, to make you laugh when you didn't want to, and to stand by your side with a kind of ride-or-die loyalty that was as intense as she was. When Molly was in your corner, you knew it. Her humor was unmatched, and she could make you feel like the center of the universe - usually with a side of sass.
Molly lived her life in chapters and threw herself wholeheartedly into whatever had her attention at the time - animals, hobbies, causes, ideas, people. If one was good, ten was better. She adopted countless animals (including a full pack of pugs at one point), briefly leased a horse, and at one time ran a full-scale home aquarium setup, complete with turtles. Whatever she loved, she loved without abandon.
After the death of her husband, Phil High, in 2020 - a police officer and the love of her life - Molly found a sense of purpose and community through her work with Blue H.E.L.P., a nonprofit dedicated to supporting the families of officers lost to suicide and raising awareness around law enforcement mental health. In a world that often doesn't know what to do with grief, Molly showed up to help other grieving families in the most personal and powerful way she could.
Molly graduated from Bonners Ferry High School in 1995 and went on to earn degrees from Gonzaga University and St. Martin's University. She had a resume as eclectic as she was and never settled for one path professionally. But more than any job, it was her roles as a mother, daughter, sister, wife, aunt, and friend that shaped her life the most - roles that were sometimes complicated, but also full of love.
She is survived by her son, Adrian Peters; her mother, Gail Cathcart; her brother, Justin Cathcart; her niece, Sydney Cathcart; and her nephew, Dylan Cathcart. She was preceded in death by her husband, Phil High; her father, Marcel Cathcart; her stillborn daughter, Emily Peters; and all four of her grandparents.
A celebration of Molly's life will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at 3 p.m. at the Cathcart family home, 527425 Highway 95, Bonners Ferry, Idaho. It will be a casual, potluck-style gathering with grilled hot dogs and hamburgers, sides, drinks, music, and time to share stories and memories. Guests are welcome to bring a dish, a photo, or a favorite Molly memory.
Part of Molly's ashes will be spread at her childhood home in Bonners Ferry - on the same property where her father's ashes were laid to rest and where her daughter Emily is buried. The rest will eventually be interred with Phil at Arlington National Cemetery.
