Lee Bennett Obituary

Lee Anne (Baker) Bennett passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones. She now joins her younger sister, Barbara, in heaven. She was educated in the Homewood School District and graduated from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She spent her career working in media advertising for 25 years. She was deeply passionate about animal rescue and worked as a volunteer for decades, finding "forever homes" for many an animal. Any animal that could not find a home she would take in, herself, unconditionally; she and her husband, Vince, had six rescue animals in their home for ten years. She was happiest when she was at the beach or the lake. She truly believed, "You cannot look at the water and worry." She modeled a life well-lived and will forever remain in the hearts of those whose lives she touched. She is survived by her loving husband Vince Bennett, her son Michael Oliver, son Matthew Bennett, son Mitchell Bennett (Daria), daughter Amelia Bennett, and parents Don and Linda Baker. She is a member of The Church at Ross Bridge. A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date. Anyone can honor Lee Anne's legacy by making a donation to the Greater Birmingham Humane Society.

I had not heard the news until just now. I LOVED Lee Ann and she was a mentor to me in my early years of dance.

My deepest sympathy to Vince and the family. I have known Lee Anne since 3rd grade at Shades Cahaba. May her soul rest at peace.
