Elizabeth Brennan Obituary

Elizabeth "Betty" Brennan, a cherished homemaker and devoted Catholic, passed away Aug. 9, 2023, in Orange City, at the age of 93. A viewing to celebrate Betty's life will be 5-7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 13, at Lankford Funeral Home in DeLand. A Mass of Christian burial will take place at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 14, at St. Peter Catholic Church in DeLand. These gatherings will serve as a testament to the impact she had on the lives of those around her.
Betty leaves behind a legacy of love, faith and compassion that has touched the lives of many. She was a steadfast pillar of strength and kindness in her community.
Betty was a faithful member of St. Peter Catholic Church in DeLand, where her unwavering commitment to her faith and her fellow parishioners shone brightly. Her life was a testament to her deep devotion to the Catholic faith.
Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Paul Brennan, and her daughter, Elizabeth.
Despite the challenges that life presented her, Betty remained resilient and full of grace, finding solace and purpose in her faith. Her abiding love and wisdom were guiding lights for her family and friends.
Beyond her role as a mother, Betty was actively involved in various charitable endeavors. Her commitment to serving others was evident through her work at the food pantry and her participation in numerous groups dedicated to assisting families in need. She extended her caring nature to minister to the sick and was a cherished member of the Council of Catholic Women, embodying the values of compassion and selflessness.
Together with her husband, Paul, Betty raised 10 children, each a reflection of her nurturing spirit.
She leaves behind a loving family, including her children, Kathy and Mark Sortino, Paul and Gerry Brennan, the Rev. Thomas E. Brennan, Eileen and James Sawyer, Patricia and Robert Nicholas, Christine and Donald Schulz, Brian and Anne Brennan, Theresa and Gary Picone, and Rose Palmer.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Betty's memory to the Salesians of Don Bosco, 148 E. Main St., New Rochelle, NY 10801. This gesture will honor Betty's commitment to compassion, service and her unwavering dedication to making a positive difference in the world.
Elizabeth "Betty" Brennan's legacy of love, faith, and service will continue to inspire and uplift all who were fortunate to know her. Her memory will forever remain a source of comfort and strength for her family, friends, and the community she so deeply impacted. May she rest in eternal peace.

I remember Betty when we played golf in Wilmington, NC. We enjoyed she
and Paul.. Those days were great as we played every weeks together. When
they decided to move to Florida we missed them with a sad heart.
