Anne Reid Obituary

Anne Mercer "Nancy" Oxholm Reid, age 88, wife of George F. Reid and mother of George F. Reid III, died on Tuesday, December 11, 2018. She was the daughter of Theodor Oxholm and Mary Hall Oxholm.

A native of Esopus, New York, Nancy was a graduate of Emma Willard School, Hood College, and the School of Social Work of the University of Pennsylvania. Her career included casework at the Children's Aid Society of Pennsylvania, the New York Hospital- Cornell Medical Center, and Roosevelt Hospital in New York City.

She and George moved to Hilton Head Island where she was a tutor for the Literacy Volunteers of the Low Country for eleven years, a tutor for Operation 100% at the Hilton Head Elementary School, a volunteer and board member of the Deep Well Project, and a volunteer at the Hilton Head Regional Medical Center.

In 2011 Nancy and George moved to Brandon Wilde in Evans, Georgia and were living there at the time of her death. She is survived by her husband, George F. Reid and their son and daughter in law, George Foster Reid III and Judy. She was preceded in death by twin sons, Timothy and Andrew.

An Episcopal Service of Remembrance will take place 2:00 P.M. Monday at Brandon Wilde with Chaplain Michael Riddle officiating. She will be laid to rest with her infant sons at New Paltz Cemetery in New York.
