Edward Flaherty Obituary

The death has occurred of Edward (Eddie) Flaherty, Mullagh Hill, Monivea, Co.Galway.

Eddie passed away peacefully on Friday 31st of October 2025 after a short illness in the care of the wonderful nursing team of Saint Enda's ward University College, Hospital, Newcastle Galway.

Predeceased by his parents John and Mary Flaherty, his brothers Peter and Jimmy Flaherty and his nephew Christopher Flaherty.

Sadly, missed by his sister Breege, his brothers John, P J and Michael, his sisters in-law Mary, Pauline and Bernie, his nieces and nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews, his great grandniece and great grandnephew, neighbours and friends.

Rest in peace

Eddie will repose at the Sacred Heart room adjoining the Church of the Sacred Heart, Ryehill, Monivea, H65 YE18 on Monday 3rd November 2025 from 6:30pm. Removal at 8pm to adjoining Church.

Requiem Mass will take place on Tuesday 4th November at 12 noon. Mass will be streamed live on https://mcn.live/Camera/church-of-the-sacred-heart,ryehill-monivea and on local radio 104.5fm. Private cremation to follow in Shannon Crematorium. No flowers please. Family house strictly private. Donations if desired to St Enda's Patient Comfort Fund UHG Galway.

Eddie's family wish to acknowledge the wonderful palliative care he received on Saint Enda's ward in University College Hospital Galway. We wish to thank all the medical team and carers who took care of Eddie and a special word of thanks to nurses Aisling and Rachel for their kindness to Eddie. We would also like to thank Dr John Lee and all the team at Abbeyknockmoy Health Centre who took look care of Eddie in recent years.
