Florence Panchisin Obituary

Florence Irene Panchisin, of Slidell, Louisiana, passed away on July 20, 2025, at the age of 95. Born on November 14, 1929, in Wheatfield, Indiana, Florence's life was a testament to the power of kindness and the joy of nurturing both family and community. Florence is the cherished daughter of the late Edward L. Hershman and Lillian Murray and the beloved wife of George Panchisin Jr., with whom she shared 59 years of devoted marriage until his passing. Together, they built a family foundation of love and support that extended to their children, Patricia Bell (Charles), Glen Panchisin (Sherry), and Steven Panchisin (Sherri), and was further strengthened by the joy of their grandchildren, Ryan Bell, Stephanie Panchisin Kubacki, and Scott Panchisin. Florence is the cherished sister of Carl, Vivian, Lawrence, Pete, Bulah, and Lulah, all of whom shared a close-knit bond that was nurtured throughout their lives. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Florence's family was the cornerstone of her existence, and she poured her heart into creating a home filled with laughter, wisdom, and unconditional love. Florence's professional life was marked by her dedication as a kitchen manager at Community Hospital, where she retired after many years of service. Her work ethic and commitment to excellence were evident in the care she took in her role, ensuring that both patients and staff were greeted with a warm meal and a kind word. Her passions extended beyond her professional life into her love for cooking and gardening, which she often shared with her family and friends. Florence's kitchen was a place of gathering, where recipes and stories were exchanged, and where the aroma of her cooking would welcome anyone who entered. Her garden was a reflection of her inner beauty, with vibrant colors and fragrant blooms that brought joy to all who saw it. Florence also found solace in the melodies of traditional jazz, which could often be heard playing softly in the background of her home. The music was a soundtrack to her life, accompanying her through moments of reflection and celebration. Florence approached life with a gentle strength and a compassionate heart. Her presence was a comfort to many, and her influence will continue to be felt through the lives she touched. Memories and condolences may be expressed at www.AudubonFuneralHome.com
