Clifton Shelton Obituary

Carl "Clifton" Shelton, 81, of the Spillcorn community, passed away Monday, September 1, 2025. He was a lifelong resident of Madison County and the son of the late Louis and Josephine Cutshall Shelton. In addition to his parents, Clifton is preceded in death by a son, Danny Shelton, and a brother, JV Shelton. Clifton is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary Lou Norton Shelton; sons, Dewayne Shelton (Jammie) and Scott Shelton (Rebecca); sisters, Nina Sue Shelton (Jody), Jill Shelton (Mike), Sue Shelton (Tim), and Joan Shelton (Hugh); a brother, Homer Shelton ( Barbara); grandchildren, David, Emma, and Adalyn Shelton; several nieces and nephews; and a special nephew, Harlon Shelton. Clifton was an avid coon hunter and a lifelong farmer, who was always willing to lend a helping hand to his neighbors and friends. A funeral service will be held at 1pm Saturday, September 6, 2025, at Spillcorn Church of God. Reverends Eddie Roberts and Raymond Cantrell will officiate.
