Clifton Shelton Obituary

Carl "Clifton" Shelton, 81, of the Spillcorn community, passed away Monday, September 1, 2025. He was a lifelong resident of Madison County and the son of the late Louis and Josephine Cutshall Shelton. In addition to his parents, Clifton is preceded in death by a son, Danny Shelton, and a brother, JV Shelton. Clifton is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary Lou Norton Shelton; sons, Dewayne Shelton (Jammie) and Scott Shelton (Rebecca); sisters, Nina Sue Shelton (Jody), Jill Shelton (Mike), Sue Shelton (Tim), and Joan Shelton (Hugh); a brother, Homer Shelton ( Barbara); grandchildren, David, Emma, and Adalyn Shelton; several nieces and nephews; and a special nephew, Harlon Shelton. Clifton was an avid coon hunter and a lifelong farmer, who was always willing to lend a helping hand to his neighbors and friends. A funeral service will be held at 1pm Saturday, September 6, 2025, at Spillcorn Church of God. Reverends Eddie Roberts and Raymond Cantrell will officiate. Burial will follow in Shelton Mountain Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.blueridgefuneralservice.org
