Jodi Onan Obituary
Jodi M. Minster-Onan was born on September 20, 1962, in Ithaca, New York, to Gerald L. Minster, Sr. and Linda Ford Onan. She departed on October 22, 2025, while residing at Oak Hill Manor. Jodi graduated from Trumansburg's Charles O. Dickerson High School and completed three semesters at Tompkins Community College from 1997 to 1998. She married Richard Charles Onan on August 13, 1983, and to this union were born Leland, Satticia, Sarah, and Shannon. She was employed for three years at P&C Market and received the Employment of the Month Award.
Jodi Minster-Onan was baptized at the Bethlehem Church of Jesus Christ on October 1, 1994, under the leadership of Bishop Darrell Barrett and received the Holy Ghost in June of the same year. She was faithful and served locally as a Sunday School teacher and Missionary Department Secretary. She also served as the Assistant Secretary of the Missionary Department in both National and Council of the True Apostolic Churches of Jesus Christ. Continuing under the leadership of Bishop Gencil McBean, she was faithful to the church and organization, doing whatsoever her hands could find to do until her illness.
Even though she may have some difficulties, she managed to come to church on Sunday mornings, singing her songs. She never failed to ask for prayers for others, especially those in the nursing home, and for her children. One of the staff members reminded us that she was always reading her Bible and telling them how much she loved her church. She was a gifted artist and loved painting scenery depicting God's creation. Greeting cards were designed from her artwork and sold to raise funds for the Sunday School Ways and Means Committee. She also enjoyed writing poetry and one day she was hoping that she could publish her own book.
Jodi was previously deceased by her parents, stepfather Harold Onan, and her Grandson Traviz Allen. She leaves to cherish her memories to Leland Allen, Satticia (Brian Tierney), Sarah Onan (Michael Marshburn) and Shannon Onan (Todd Updike); seven Grandchildren Amber, Devon and Derrick Tierney, Daimon Allen, Grace, Ashton and Landon Updike, three great grandchildren, Fynn, Ophelia and Lillian, her husband Richard Onan, three brothers Gerald L. Minster Jr. (Benigna), John Minster, and James Minster Sr. (Theresa), and a host of nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins, stepmother, along with her church family. Jodi Minster Onan was loved by many and will be dearly missed by all. To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Jodi, please visit our floral store.
