Dear Ralph, Ever since I heard the tragic news of Jan's death I have been remembering the times we had in Tokoroa. I especially remember when she (and your family) looked after our almost 3 year old daughter when we had to go to Wellington for our brother-in-law's funeral....way back in 1979!!! What a house full of children you had then. I recalled all their names and something about each one - though I am sure they have no idea who I am. Praying you find peace at this sad time, and strength for each day.

As a colleague, Jan was conscientious, clever, and so generous with her time. She had a special interest in developing and supporting all. She was an asset to FVHS. She will be sadly missed. Love to the Wiles family.

To the Wiles family. Jan was my form teacher when I first started at FVHS in 1993 and ended up being my geography teacher later on. She was a fantastic teacher who really made an impression on her students. I still remember her lessons on plate tectonics and orographic rainfall over the Southern Alps! She will be sadly missed. Thinking of you all.
