Dear Uncle Bevin, We will remember you as the kind hearted gentle man you always were, one that cared for all critters, both big and small. We will remember you for your quick wit, the love you had for old style music and your ability to hold a mighty good tune, right up until the very end. We will remember our visits down to the South Island and how lucky we felt to be part of something so very special. We'll also remember your silliness and the crazy fun things you did in order to make us laugh. We will remember the love you had for literature and the environment as a whole. We appreciate the devotion you had to wanting a land of beauty. In an uptight world you still cherished life's simple pleasures. There are many that owed you their life. They weren't able to share their appreciation with words, but those creatures you cared for each and every day, rain or shine knew they were loved. It wasn't thanks you were looking for, we know it was you, simply being you, and following your own core values of looking out for those who needed it. We will remember your life's commitment to keeping articles about passions you held. We will remember your amazing intellect and the way you got us to think about our own beliefs. Most of all Uncle Bevin, we will remember you. We are forever thankful for the memories you have left behind and for the beautiful love you shared with Rayna. All our love from your Auckland family. xx

ALEXANDER, Bevin Wallis. On 10 September 2021, at his home in the Arahura Valley. Dear, treasured brother and brother-in-law of Jan and the late Fred Sanders, much-loved and admired uncle of Brett, Gina, Aaron and their families. May we raise children who love the unloved things - the dandelion, the worms and spiderlings. Children who sense the rose needs the thorn and run into rain-swept days the same way they turn towards sun... And when they're grown and someone has to speak for those who have no voice may they draw upon that wilder bond, those days of tending tender things and be the ones. Nicolette Sowder
