Very Sorry to hear of his passing. A true legend! Looked after us lads from Lewis, Barra, etc when we first visited Kiwi on the Bay Boats, last time I seen him was in 2008 and had a good session with himself and Boots Macneil, Hope the cabin and the Suilven are preserved as they are a piece of NZ Maritime History!

So sorry to hear of John's passing. He was one person that I always enjoyed meeting up with when running to Auckland in the 80's. He was not only one of natures true gentlemen but was a wealth of information on a wide range of maritime topics. Auckland has lost a part of its maritime heritage in his passing.
Rest in peace, John. Fair winds and following seas.
Kindest regards and condolences to family and friends.
