Charles CORLETT Obituary

CORLETT, Charles Armistice (Buddy). 11-11-1921 to 09-05-2015. Passed away surrounded by his family after fighting adversities but rising to the challenge since his stroke in 2000. Much loved husband of Yvette, and cherished Dad of Neville, Peter, Karen and Bruce, their partners Tascha, Robin, Stewart and Karen. Adored Poppa to Shaun, Dana, Karlene, Shad, Kain, Nathan and Jessica. Great Grandad to Kobi. His love of his family and life extended his years beyond all expectations. He was the cornerstone of the entire family and he leaves a huge hole in our hearts. Many thanks to the wonderful team at Howick Baptist Hospital, his cherished caregivers of the past who became part of our family, and the countless others who have supported the Corlett family. A service for Buddy will to be held Friday 15 May at 2pm, St Columba Presbyterian Church, 480 Ti Rakau Drive, Botany.

Mrs Corlett, Pete & family - over the years Buddy would have done as much as any single person to get and keep East Aucklanders fit and healthy. Being singled out by him for special mention at a Gym night prize-giving because you nearly managed to turn a crouch into a handstand, made a kid so proud you wanted to burst. He's well remembered.

Sincere condolences to the Corlett family. Our father, Owen Rutledge, who died in December 2009, often talked of his mate Buddy Corlett. I believe they played both soccer and basketball together in their youth. It sounds as though they were both courageous battlers in their final days too.
They leave a big gap in the family, but lived their lives to the fullest, creating many great memories for us all to cherish.

What a kind caring family man you were Buddy. Yvette and your loving family were your world and you theirs. You were loved by all, so gentle, with a good sense of humour, full of mischief with that twinkle in your eye. There seemed to be no holding you back. Your trusty scooter meant you were able to tend your garden and to venture out to have a wee flutter on the horses. My love and thoughts are with you all at this sad timeMargie xx

CORLETT, Charles (Bud). 9th May 2015. After 93 years of good living, my dearly loved brother, is now with loved ones, "gone before". He was so kind and considerate. He gave so much of himself to others. He endured life with valour, to the end, with family surrounding him. Now, "Buddy" you are free of all worldly bonds, to be at rest, in peace. Though sadly missed, you remain warm in my heart, together in memories, of the Prairie where we were born. All that has been, of love, never dies. Your eternal sister, Sybil and (late) brother-in law, Doug Churton. Rocky Bay.
