Travis Eickman Obituary

Travis Evan Eickman was born on August 5, 1985 in Dallas, Texas. He was the oldest of 3 children. Travis attended Garland High School and graduated in 2004.

He received a football scholarship to the University of Louisiana at Monroe, and played football while pursuing and earning a music composition degree. Trained as a classical pianist since the age of 8, Travis had a passion for music and love composing movie scores.

He enjoyed years of athlete development training in Houston, and later went on to teach and coach at Northeast Baptist School in West Monroe, Louisiana.

He moved home to Dallas and taught music at West Dallas Community School and was also a 2nd grade boys teacher at Watermark Community Church. This past year, Travis taught English at W.T. White High School and coached Varsity football and JV softball.

Travis was known for his impersonations and humor. He could impersonate many movie characters, public figures, and football coaches. He was a unique soul with an uncanny ability to lift the spirits of those around him. He was one who would draw others to conversations about the Lord, life, music, sports, and movies.

He engaged people of all ages, and motivated and inspired many in his coaching and teaching. He used his various talents to draw people to him and he shared the hope he had in Christ for Eternal Life.

Travis is survived by his parents Scott and Mary Eickman. His younger sister Lindsey Driscoll, and brother-in-law Steve Driscoll and younger brother Trevor Eickman. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins from both the Eickman and Stefanowicz familes.

Coach was truly one of the most influential people in my life. As I continue with my last few years of High school he continues to be a driving force to work harder than I knew I could. He was one of the first people to truly believe in me and I hope to live my life to its full potential in his memory.

Scott, Mary, Lindsey and Trevor,
Our hearts are broken along with yours. Travis touched so many lives from his time in the youth group at Trinity Fellowship Church, to his collegiate/football career at ULM and ultimately as a teacher and mentor. In spite of the shortness of years, Travis' memory lives on in the hearts and minds of all of us who where blessed to know him. May you know the love and comfort of the Lord in a powerful way during this time of grief and sorrow. We love you and are praying for you.

My heart is heavy - I loved hearing Travis play our piano. The joy is knowing this is a temporary absence. We will enjoy the fellowship with Travis again, transformed and in the presence of our Lord. Praise God.....

I worked with Travis at W.T. White High School. My heart is so heavy for you all. Students are contacting me asking how something like this could possibly be true. They are afraid to write out of respect for the Family. You need to know what he can't now. He changed so many Student's lives by simply being the Man God made Him. He'll be remembered in prayers by many many faces you'll never know.
