Stanley Mattson Obituary

WELCOME:    A  Celebration of Life Service for Stanley D. Mattson, 79, of  Welcome, Minnesota,  will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 8, 2021 at Kramer Family Funeral Home, #704 First St. in Welcome, Minnesota.  There will be Military Honors by the Welcome American Legion Post #553 and the Nassen-Detert American Legion Post #539 of Ceylon outside of the funeral home right after the service.    Burial will be in West Sveadahl Cemetery in rural St. James, Minnesota. 


 


Stanley succumbed to his battle with cancer on May 3, 2021 at Goldfinch Estates in Fairmont, Minnesota. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Messages of sympathy can be sent to the family on line at www.kramerfuneralhome.com.


The staff at Kramer Family Funeral Home extends their appreciation to the Mattson family for their trust.

Stanley David Mattson was born December 9, 1941 to Grant and Mavis (Roemer) Matson. He attended high school in Glencoe, Minnesota. On October 18, 1960 he enlisted in the United States Navy where he worked as a store clerk. He was honorably discharged October 2, 1964. On September 10, 1965 he was united in marriage to Darla Samsel. The couple lived in various places in Minnesota and Iowa before settling in Welcome, Minnesota where he owned and operated Stan’s Café. He was also involved in the operations of Highland House Café owned by his mother. After he moved to Goldfinch Estates in Fairmont, Minnesota.


 


Those left to cherish his memory include his daughters, Shari Arndt and her husband Gary of Owatonna, Minnesota, Dawn Schultz and her husband Jeff of Welcome, Minnesota and son, Damon Mattson and his wife Danyel of Savage, Minnesota; brothers, Terry Matson and his wife Ann, of Tucson, Arizona and Troy Matson and his wife Tami, of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota; sister, Sheila Cottew and her husband Lynn of Mankato, Minnesota; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.


 


Stan was preceded in death by his parents and other relatives and friends.

Our sympathy to the Mattson Family on the passing of Stan. Will always smile when we think of Stan. Will never forget the rhubarb custard pie he baked for us. RIP Stan.
