Rolaunde McCree Obituary

MCCREE, Mr. Rolaunde-age 47, of Flint, passed away Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at Ascension Genesys. Funeral sevices will be held 12:00pm Monday, January 18, 2021 with a 11:30am family hour at Church Without Walls, 6202 Dupont St. Flint, MI 48505. Pastor Martez Warren officiating. Calling hours are 1:00pm-6:00pm Sunday, January 17, 2021 at Sheldon T. Banks Funeral Chapel, 3021 S. Dort Hwy., Flint, MI 48507. The final resting place for Mr. McCree will be Gracelawn Cemetery.

Rolaunde Tremaine McCree, Sr. was born November 4, 1973 in Flint, Michigan, the son of Thomas and Veronica McCree. He married Jameela Watson on September 2, 2000 and to their union, three children were born.

Rolaunde was educated by the Flint Community Schools and loved to talk about his educational experience from his early childhood years in Germany. He graduated from Northwestern High School, “Class of 1992.” He attended Ferris State University, before graduating from Mott Community College with an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice. Rolaunde worked at McDonalds for many years as a manager before becoming a Correction Officer at MDOC Thumbs Regional Correctional Facility, and as a Youth Specialist at the Genesee Valley Regional Center (GVRC) and Whaley Children’s Center. He later acquired a position as a vehicle hauler at Flint Rail / Precision Vehicle Solutions where he met many friends that became family. Rolaunde was a member of Church Without Walls Ministries and passionately served as the leader of the security ministry.

Rolaunde enjoyed playing poker, dominoes, and chess. There was nothing that Rolaunde loved more than his daughters including the ones that he claimed as his own and his only son. He had a special relationship with his son and his son’s friends who affectionately called him “Pops.” Rolaunde was very involved with his son's sports teams both basketball and football, and coached his CA little league football team for 3 years, and his Flint PAL basketball team whenever they called on him. He will be remembered by many for his jokes, infectious smile, his loud mouth at the Carman Ainsworth games and the support he showed to the athletes. He never met a stranger and was loved by many that he loved the same. His fun personality, smile, and sense of humor will be missed by all that knew him.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife of 20 years, Jameela McCree; son, Rolaunde Jr.; daughters, Treana, Rolaunda, Rayven, Niyah, Vishaya, and Debrayah; grandchildren, Jacion, Londyn, Leland, Jermaine (JT), Malia, and Nova; mother, Veronica McCree; brothers, Thomas and Myron McCree, and Joseph (Holly) Bedtelyon; sister, Victoria McCree; a host of nieces and nephews, including special nephew, Javontae; grandfather, Louis Bradford; uncles, Alvin (Felicia) Bradford, and Vance (Pat) Bradford; aunts, Deborah Porter and Sherry (Orlando) Mask; mother-in-law, Rose (Bryant) Watson-Brown; brother-in-law, Lawrence Wright III; sisters-in-law, Yasmine and Nestle Watson; god children, Antonio, Sahaan, and Destiny; so many special friends that he considered family including Quentin Fitzgerald, Aaron Fryer, Lazerick Hill, Montel Menifee, Akil Sanders, Antione Jackson, his brothers from Foss Avenue, his Poker buddies, and Northwestern class of ’92.

He was preceded in death by his father Thomas McCree, Sr.; grandmothers, Hattie Bradford and Hattie McCree; grandfather, Eugene McCree; aunt, Patricia Tolbert; and favorite cousin, Lisa King.

The family would like to express special thanks to Church Without Walls Ministries, Pastor Martez and Natasha Warren, the Watson Family, Precision Vehicle Solutions crew, Northwestern Class of ‘92, and so many others for the love shown during our time of bereavement. Your support, food, cards, and flowers are appreciated.
