My uncle was one of the few people who I would call genuine, although I was young (15) when he passed I am always reminded of him when I turn on ESPN. I get told often that I remind people of him when he was young and I take that as the worlds biggest compliment. Uncle David, I love you and miss you more than you know. I wish that you were still here but I know you are doing your part. Time for you to work some sooner magic for the 2025 season.

I miss David, the World misses David. He was a genuine friend who was always there to talk to regardless of the situation. It’s only fitting that when I watch an OU football game, I can’t help to remember David’s passion and love for the Sooners. I miss you David and we will meet again someday

David was one of my closest friends. No matter how long it had been since we last saw or talked with each other, it was always as if we had not been apart very long. We met 20 plus years ago through the Ok Safety Council, passed on the ASSE Chapter Presidency to him, and throughout that time developed a wonderful relationship that included many mutual friends and a love for laughter and fun bantering with one another. Since we were both single, we kidded each that if we weren't married in 5 years, we would marry each other. However, since I was older, he teased that I might be too old by then. It was always like that with David; always fun and a big smile forever on his face that made YOU smile...except when OU lost. I attended many tailgate parties, safety conferences, fun get-togethers, and a championship game with David; always began and ended our conversations by one of us saying "Boomer" and the other responding "Sooner." My phone played "Boomer Sooner" when he called. I last talked with David 3 weeks before his death. It is now October, 2014, and I miss "Biscuit Cheeks" dearly. I will never forget my wonderful friend..."Boomer Sooner!"

Met David (“Biscuit” to some of us) when he was on the Board of the Ok Safety Council. He was delightfully direct with a quick smile and a hysterical story that combine country charm and he quick wit. We stayed in touch the last 20 plus years and we exchanged phone call ever couple of months. For me, he would call and hang up which was code for “call me back goober” but recently he took to sending a text that just said “Boomer” which was code for call me goober. Since I had moved to the Dallas area I was his occasional place to crash – usually for OU v TX and I inevitably had to watch one of his crazy puppy dogs (so cute so see how much he loved his dogs). He would stick around if OU won but would “high tail it” out of Texas if OU lost. The mentioned nickname came about when some of us attended a national championship game. OU had won and David's seat were away from me and another mutual friend … so when the group all came back together in the parking lot someone asked David “How do you feel” and he said “…. I'm so happy – I feel like I'm on the gravy train with Biscuit wheels”. The nickname “Biscuit” stuck and although he said he didn't like it – I believe he did. The last text I have from David was “Boomer” so … “Sooner” to you my dear friend. I miss you.

We graduated college the same year in 1992. He was in OSHA consultation with the Oklahoma Department of Labor then. He helped fuel my desire to practice safety. He loved to laugh and was a hoot. He had a knack for recalling details and trivia. I loved hearing his stories about what he did in the field at work that day. I always looked up to him and will miss him.

I met David Boren in 1983; we were both freshmen at the University of Oklahoma, his dorm room across the hall from mine. We were both just small town boys at a big university and became friends for over 30 years. I knew Dave as an honest, kind, respectful and hard-working guy that you could always count on. He worked the breakfast shift in the cafeteria to help pay his way through college; many nights we kept him up late with our antics, but he always forgave us for his sleep deprivation. We went to many OU Football games during those early college years. Dave was HUGE OU fan and we use call him “Little Cecil” (after Cecil Samara the most renowned OU fan during the 80's). During the 1985 season a bunch of the guys from Parker House (our dorm house) went down to Miami to watch the Sooners win a National Championship against Penn State; with the game, the beach and the fellowship we had the time of our lives on that trip. Over the years one of Dave's passions was returning to our Alma Mater to watch our beloved Sooners play and this is usually were we would see Dave. When I return for games in the future I will always remember the great times we shared. All of the Parker Brothers will always remember David Boren and be proud to call him one of our own.

We had a good laugh on Sunday and then the terrible news later in the week. I will really miss you. Thanks for the laughs and all the OU stats. This season won't be the much fun and neither will March Madness. God Bless your family. Thanks for being such a good friend. "Boomer"

David, one of my closest and dearest friends. My best man at our wedding, my favorite person to argue with, and a real friend I would always look forward to seeing when we went back to Oklahoma. I will always remember the numerous early morning fishing trips, our racquetball bouts. And of course I had to be an Aggie fan just to antagonize him. Dave and I could always pick up the phone and it would be like we never left each other in high school. That is truly something I will miss. God blessed me with your friendship.

David, you were not only a friend, I considered you a brother. You brought a smile to any conversation, and no matter how long it had been since we last spoke, you would start our conversation with a hearty "Boomer!" and of course I responded "Sooner!" You will be missed more than words can express, but I know God just got the BEST Sooner EVER in Heaven! Blessings to the Boren Family during this difficult time. I salute you my friend and give you one more Boomer Sooner!
