Adeline Alvarez Obituary

Adeline Alvarez was the first of nine children born to Gonzalo and Ruth Torrez in Los Angeles, California, on June 5, 1944. Her siblings who followed are Gonzalo "Peewee" Torrez, Jr., (deceased), Maria Delgado (husband Tom), Manuel Torrez, Rachel Hernandez (husband Henry), Jesse Torrez, Rita Rodriguez, Mario Torrez (deceased), and Elaine Uribe (husband Louie). In addition to many cousins, nieces, nephews, and Godchildren, she is also survived by her aunts Eleanor Perez and Paula Torres.

"Lena" grew up in Compton, California, graduating from Compton High School in 1962, and then attending Compton Junior College. She worked most of her life in the medical billing profession, forming lasting relationships everywhere she worked.

After becoming a widow in 2003, following the loss of her husband, Felipe Llamas, to whom she had been married for over 20 years, Lena met and married her "amor" Orlando Alvarez in 2010. They were devoted to one another and made their happy home in Bellflower, California, a home she filled with her passion for any and everything "leopard", which became her familiar trademark. If it was leopard, she loved it, and everyone knew it!

Lena will always be remembered for her beautiful smile, her winning personality, her glamorous style, and the warmth and love she extended to friends and family alike. Everyone who knew her loved her. Her nieces and nephews, upon whom she doted, were like her own children. Though she leaves an irreplaceable void in her family, her memory will always remain fresh and forever cherished by all who loved her.
