We did not know Ian for long but he became a well acquainted friend of my granddad at Addington Gardens. It was lovely to see the two of them spending time together in the lounge. We thank Ian for giving my grandad a friend during his time at Addington Gardens.

I did not have the pleasure of knowing Ian but I am sure I speak for many in the fluid mechanics community in saying that Ian's work and legacy has been very influencial. He was a Fellow of the Australasian Fluid Mechanics Society and his citation read: "For contributions to the understanding of multiphase and free-surface flows". Thank you and RIP
