Elaine and myself are very sad to learn of the very sad loss of Alex besides being one of your Managers of your Canterbury Rugby 1982-1985 Ranfurly Shield team and being a good friend of you and all of your Family Rest in Peace mate you certainly stamped your mark on not Canterbury, and New Zealand but world Rugby.

Kia ora my friend, it's been an honor to have the opportunity to meet you, to play rugby alongside you and to shear your sheep and have a few beers afterwards. You were a hard man on the field and and off the field and I had quite a few sessions with you at the Waipara Hotel, that was our Club room, back in the day, 1975 - 1981. Rest in peace my friend, Alex. moa mai ra, rangatiri.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Jenny and the family at this sad time. Alex was an extraordinary man in many ways, and certainly "one of a kind" where rugby was concerned ! He was very much a family friend over many years. R.I.P. a great warrior.
