So sorry to hear of Johns passing.
John was a true gentleman and a great fellow musician.
We had many fond memories of various playing gigs around southland.
My thoughts are with his family at this sad time.
Rest in peace John.

Condolences to John's family, friends and many colleagues. I grew up knowing John's artwork. We have several of his art books and still have one of his portraits of my Great Grandfather in our family home.

What a lovey guy. He painted me a picture on a sad occasion, that hangs on a wall of our home and always has. Wasn't a bad musician either. I remember the speakers he had inserted into the walls of his lounge that when turned up loud made the entire room shake. Sleep well my old friend.

To the late John Husband family I have fond memories of John when he worked at Foveaux Radio and him coming to the Waiau Hotel and him drinking a Sheep Dip whiskey. My thoughts are with you all

John was the passionate Director of the Anderson Park Art Gallery (Invercargill Public Art Gallery) for 34 years. He painted and drew many historic and iconic places and buildings around Southland that form a substantial legacy within the collection that will be appreciated by generations into the future.

Kia ora, I knew John when I worked at Foveaux radio. I was a young announcer and John was just great, an inspiration and why I eventually became a journalist. An amazing talent, and great artist. I last saw him years ago in Bay of Plenty. He also sent me a letter as he'd heard me on RNZ years ago. I've always kept that letter from John.

A respected and experienced local broadcaster and artist who supported local persons in education throughout the seventies and eighties with his Southland Talks Back broadcasts and hands on tuition at our local school. RIP John.

Holding many fond memories and good times close - the Husbands (Mark, Karen, Deborah, Brandon and Fiona) and the Glen girls (Odette, Anya, Ginia and Liselle), their partners, spouses and families were sad to hear of John's passing. Many thanks to Bupa Longwood Care Home for their diligent care in his last years. Finally free of the restrictions that confined him over those years. Enjoy the music again John, drum on, and have a fine wine or a whiskey with that.
