mrs check i knew as a child and as my teacher great friend to my mum helen mortimore. have fond memories of her as a lovely teacher with a big heart.will always rmamber the immaculate clothes shoes makeup.. at peace finally in heaven with her beloved husband xx

I never knew you as Yvonne Check - to me you will always be Vonnie Tocker. So closely woven into my childhood memories as we grew up side by side for over 10 years, I wish I had known you as the wonderful lady you friends and ex-pupils describe you.

Such an amazing lady, your size may have been small but the respect and love you commanded just by your presence, was enormous. Even when I worked at the college and you invited me to call you Yvonne, the natural respect I had for you since you were my teacher, did not allow me to get past "Mrs Check". Will remember you always. God Bless.

What a sad loss for Yvonnes Family and the Town of Kawerau.Yvonne has given me many great memories of College life and personal ones with my family in my childhood years. My thoughts are with you all at your time of sorrow.
