Priscilla and I remember Wynn as an eat, drink and be merry kind of guy who lived life to the full.
At our beautiful wedding apart from the devastatingly good looking bride and groom it was Wynn who stole the limelight dancing, singing, laughing and just being himself living wholly in the present moment and enjoying it very much.
Always a man of action - in the time it takes some people to check their smartphones, Wynn and Glenis would have hitched up the caravan, driven to some idyllic spot in New Zealand and have a lovely dinner on the way.
Wynn was a smart man with no need for gadgets or distractions to have a great life. We could all take a leaf out of his book.
I will leave my last words to another great man, Robert Louis Stevenson: That man is a success, who has lived well, laughed often and loved much.
Go in peace Wynn

Happier times . . . RIP Father
After the clouds, the sunshine; after the winter, the spring; after the shower, the rainbow; for life is a changeable thing. After the night, the morning, bidding all darkness cease, after life's cares and sorrows, the comfort and sweetness of peace.

Hei maumaharatanga . . . Farewell, Wynn, travel safely. I will always remember your kindness and generosity, your remarkable hospitality, not to mention that lethal rocket juice. Kia kaha, Glenis - ko te poo te kaihari i te raa; ko te mate te kaihari te kaihari oranga. John Dix and whanau.

I only knew Wynn for 16 years since Dianne and I got married but every year when I came from New York to visit New Zealand, Wynn and Glenis were always at the top of my list of people I wanted to see. Wynn was a man's man, down to earth, totally secure in his beliefs and convictions and had no problem voicing them. How refreshing it was for me to talk to someone who was as politically irreverent as me. What great conversations and laughs we had.
Wynn, that drive up North will never be the same.

Wynn was not only a big part of my happy childhood but he was always supportive and there for our family (along with Glenis) during the sad and difficult times. Every time I drove up North to Coopers Beach my husband Stanley and I always stopped to see them along the way. Wynn would never fail to greet us with a great big bear hug and we would admire his garden, play with the dog, have a lovely meal, and chat and joke around for hours about anything and everything. He could appear gruff at times to people who did not know him well, but to me he was a tender-hearted man whose traditional values I admired and shared. I hope the fishing is great up in Heaven Wynn and that my Dad, Des, has left a few big ones for you.

Teasing Wynn and getting him all riled up at family gatherings was one of the highlights of my life. It started soon after he married Glenis, with me telling him how lucky he was to be in our family, and continued for the next 50 years when I reminded him of it every time I saw him! Being a feisty chap, he never failed to point out to me that he had to deal with some rather challenging members of Glenis's family myself included! Wynn always gave me a huge grin during our bantering back and forth because he was the first to admit that he had been lucky enough to marry the love of his life - even though he had to put up with the rest of us by doing so! Des and I had so many special times with Wynn and Glenis!
Wynn, thanks for the laughter and camaraderie which I will always cherish.
