WILLIAM COWAN Obituary

WILLIAM JAMES COWAN February 28, 1927 - March 25, 2016 Bill Cowan lived his life from 1927 to 2016. Bill had a father for only six years. He had six brothers and sisters. He was married for 64 years to his soul mate Audrey Cowan (McMahon). He was a father for 62 years. He had 6 children, 13 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and a gaggle of nieces and nephews. He had a great sense of humour and an innate love of music. He danced until he could no longer stand. He leaves nothing behind but an abundance of love. William graduated Loyola College with a Bachelor of Physics and became the youngest graduate of the Canadian National Railway's Staff College. "Flash" Cowan was a football hero at West Hill High, Loyola College and Navy. A great all-around athlete, he broke the Canadian long jump record at 14 and attempted to break it again at 74 when he competed and was the Treasurer of the BC Seniors Games. He departed the earth at Glacier View Lodge where he had lived and been loved for the past 3 years. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Glacier View Lodge, to whom our family will be forever grateful for their personal care and love of Bill. A Celebration of Life will be held at Christ the King Catholic Church in Courtenay, British Columbia on April 2nd at 11:00 a.m. Everyone is welcome.
