I had a boat at mana marina and passed Bill occasionally on the finger. I was inexperienced sailer and Bill without really knowing me invited my son and l on an overnight trip to the sounds. His generosity humour and seamanship stuck with me and l was'nt surprised when he won the trans Tasman race with another sailer. The world is a sadder place with the passing of people like Bill.
