Today ,I had reason to visit an oral surgeon. He was a young man at the beginning of his medical life and future in Maximo-facial surgery. I spoke with him about my nursing past and mentioned that ,in another life time I worked for William Marsden Bell managing his operating theatre at St Marks Clinic Remuera His consulting rooms were there along with "Baldy" Manchester Plastic Surgeon.time frame approx (1974/76)This Memory prompts me to write my memories of him at that time , 50 years ago. At that stage in his life he was a leading a very busy and full working life. Head of department at Middlemore ,head of oral surgery society ,and from memory had huge responsibilties overseeing the society´s complaints commission. Indeed a very full life , and not to forget his major role for many years as the maxio-facial surgeon at Middlemore Hospital. The man himself commanded a massive persona, well known in medical circles .highly respected, a very personable, humble, calm and unflappable personality.. great to work for. I thoroughly enjoyed my time working for him .. I just thought you would like to know as one of the "worker bees " in his life. Great memories of that time .. Kind regards Elizabeth van Kesteren

Dear Mrs Bell, David and family. I´m very sad to hear of your loss. I am proud to have worked with Marsden, or Mr Bell as we called him then, at Middlemore Hospital Dental Dept in the late/early 90s/2000s.
His relaxed and friendly manner was always present and he was a very important part of our team. I have such fond memories, never forgotten. Love Tanya Scouler
