Wayne NEWTH Obituary

I was sorry to recently learn that Wayne had died. Haleigh and Sophia, please feel free to contact me on [email protected] if you wish. It happens that we were second cousins, and Wayne was in my class along with Michael Wheatley and Barry Brown during our years at MAGS (1964-67 for me - I think Wayne also went on to Form 6A). So was Hector McGillivray who has shared his condolences on this page.

It does seem likley that the Wayne Newth you were looking for sounds like the correct one. He went to MAGs and had a life long love of wine! I’m sorry you didn’t get to connect before your visit.

Sophia Graham ( Daughter of Wayne)

The pictures of Wayne look very much like the Wayne Newth I became friends with in 1969/70 at Auckland University. Condolences to his family and friends even if he wasn't the friend I have been looking for for sometime. Hopefully someone can verify what I knew of him from back then. I believe he went to Mt. Albert Grammar school and was close friends with Mike Wheatley, Grant Collins, Lynn Wheatley, Judy Simister and Barry (can't recall the last name). When we could only afford beer he was a wine buff. The picture of him with the wine bottle is so much like the Wayne I knew. He used to love Blue Nun Liebfraumilch back then. If he is my old friend, I'm really saddened by his passing. I am due to visit Auckland in April and it hurts even more that I was so close to finding him (if it is him). My name is Ushmendra (Ush) Singh. Could someone please respond if it sounds like the Wayne I knew. What a fun guy he was...

Sorry to hear of Wayne´s passing away. He spent time with us in Whanganui with his daughter Sophie many years ago. Always enjoyed catching up with him. Lost contact with Wayne in later years but we have fond memories of him.

Very sorry to hear about Wayne. I hadn't had any contact with him since school and just recently we exchanged emails. My sympathies to his loved ones.
