Jan,
I was fortunate enough to be introduced to Wayne through work and spent quite a bit of time traveling the United States with him. As I entered the work force from college I found Wayne to be a top notch traveling companion, showing me all of his old haunts in Berkeley and encouraging me to enjoy more of the small joys travel had to offer. His kindness, thoughtfulness, and intellect left an impression on me, as i'm sure they did to all he met. On our travels he would particularly light up when talking about you and the family, of whom we discussed at length.

By the time you and Wayne graciously opened your home to us, I felt like I knew you. All these years later that trip our group took to your house continues to be a top highlight of all my travels around the world. Please accept our deepest sympathies to you and the rest of the family, we are thinking of you.

Dear Jan,
My wife Joni and I are deeply saddened by Wayne's passing, and are so sorry for your loss. I had the pleasure and honor of working with Wayne several years back, and he always stood out as a man who's kindness and intelligence knew no bounds. While I have many fond memories of Wayne, we will never forget the evening you and he graciously hosted us for a memorable dinner at your home during our trip from the U.S. Please accept our deepest condolences, and know that even for the relatively short time we knew Wayne, he had a deep imprint in our memories.
