We have so many memories of the truly wonderful human being Wally was. We honour his service to the community over so many years and we send our condolences and much love to Bev, Louisa and Kahurangi. Lyn Burgess and Stephen Parkinson

Dear Bev, Louisa and Kahurangi ,

These words come to mind when I think of Wally , loyal , dedicated, kind, loving , persistent and at times stubborn . Wally totally embodied the calling `to serve´ by resolutely standing beside those struggling to find justice, comfort or peace. . He dedicated himself to this calling , working long hours to assist people to lighten the load they carried .Often he did this to the detriment of his health and well-being.
Wally didn´t seek accolades by following a conventional career path , instead he choose the path of steadfast advocacy for those he loved and those he served.
I am terribly sad that he has physically left us yet also comforted by the knowledge that the ethics that guided his life will live on in all those people touched by his love and `service´ .


I hope the loving memories you made with Wally will sustain you over the coming years.

Dear Beverley, Louisa and Kahurangi,

We were saddened to read of Wally's passing.

We remember him as a reasonable and common sense neighbour to our flats in Wellington Street, Hamilton East. If there was a problem, he always looked to be constructive and find a way forward.

We send our aroha and best wishes to you all at this sad time.

We won't join you on Saturday to share in the celebration of Wally's rich and full life because we are both in Covid isolation.

Dear Bev
I remember seeing you and Wally not so long ago at the cinema. It's hard to think of you without him somewhere nearby.
I also remember Wally teaching our class. Back in 2005, I think it was. We got to choose the topic of one of the assignments and I learned a great deal about family... it has stayed with me. Thank you Wally.

I can't be with you in person because I'm living a big long drive away from Hamilton these days, but you've all been on my mind since I heard the news.
