E. Boarts Obituary

E. Irene Hawk Boarts, 86, formerly of Gilpin, died at 2:10 a.m. Saturday (Jan. 31, 2004) in Armstrong County Health Center, Kittanning.

Born June 19, 1917, in Rural Valley, she lived 53 years in Gilpin before moving to Armstrong County Health Center two years ago. Mrs. Boarts was a member of Gray Stone Presbyterian Church, Leechburg. She enjoyed needle point, playing cards, reading and crossword puzzles. Survivors include a daughter, Kathie (Walter) Schumaker of Gilpin, and a sister, Dorothy Grimm of Fredonia, N.Y. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Shawn Schumaker and Heather (Thomas) Shoemaker, and three great-grandchildren, Morgan S. and Logan T.W. Schumaker and Seth T. Shoemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas H. Boarts, in 1992; a son, William T. Boarts; her parents, Phillip Zeth and Jennie Issori Hawk; and two brothers, Bernard and Robert Hawk. Friends will be welcomed by her family from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in CLAWSONS, Second at Main, Leechburg, where funeral ceremonies will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Her pastor, the Rev. Gary J.
