Vincent VAN DAM Obituary

VAN Dam, Vincent (Vince). Born February 28, 1955. After a brave battle with cancer Vince passed away peacefully with his family around him on Tuesday July 25, 2017. Rest in peace dear son, brother and uncle. We will miss you dearly. Lots of love, your Mother Christine Rudy and Annelies Lindy and Michael Geoff and Sue and his nephews and niece. A celebration of his life will be held at Hamilton Park Cemetery Chapel, 395 Morrinsville Road (SH26), Newstead on Friday 28 July 2017 at 1pm followed by some refreshments at Woodside estate, 130 Woodside Road, Matangi at 2.30pm. All communications to van Dam family c/o Mrs C van Dam, unit 80, Tasman village, Seales Road, Morrinsville.

A poem I made for dear Vince which I read to him at our last friends lunch at Riverhead Tavern May 20 2017, then at his service.

Ruggerdly handsome,
Tall and kind,
Strong and funny,
You are one of a kind.
Glass half full, action man,
Hardworking, adventurous,
Always willing to lend a hand.
Good friend, good fun,
We love to be around you,
Our love and prayers, we surround you.
Our bodies age,
We're not invincible,
Like we used to think.
Now we know what's more important,
Lets write it down in ink.
To love, have faith,
To care and laugh,
To do our best to be there,
We love you Vince,
Our good friend,
A toast to you we will always share.

An amazingly positive, kind, fun and brave friend. We miss you and you will forever be in our hearts and thoughts. We were blessed to have you as a friend and will always have happy memories of our good times together. Enjoy the surfing in heaven and we look forward to some more bbqs together when we get there. VAN DAM, Vince. On 25th July 2017. Much loved friend of Tony, Geraldine and family, Guy, Deb, Jax, Vandy, Cesi, Sparrow, Danny and Caroline. He had a zest for life, surfing, fishing, and a great carpenter. Rest in peace brother, we will always remember our good times.
