I had "Mrs Maihi" as a teacher when I was 8 years old in 1969 at Verran Rd Primary. She was an amazing teacher and a lovely person. She had a great influence on me and gave me a lifelong appreciation for Maori culture, language and the arts. We did a big unit on Maori culture and history and I still remember so much of it. She had nicknames for a lot of the kids. Mine was Dancer, because I was always jiggling about! Sorry to read that she's gone but she was such a great person and made such a positive addition to many lives! Condolences to all Toi's family. I remember many of you too!
