Timothy BRAY Obituary

BRAY, Timothy Richard (Tim) QSM. Our very much loved Tim died at Mercy Hospice on Saturday, 5 July 2025 aged 61 after battling a rare sarcoma. He was surrounded by the love of his family and will be missed immensely. Dearly loved by his partner, Bryce, his children Caellum and Brooke, his somewhat large and loving family and whānau and many, many friends. Tim leaves behind an incredible legacy of love and care for us and the joy and wonder he created for so many children and adults alike through his work creating theatre for children for over 30 years. A celebration of Tim's life will be held on Sunday 13 July at Kahui St Davids, 70 Khyber Pass Road, Grafton, Auckland at 2.30pm. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to either the Auckland City Mission or the Sarcoma Foundation New Zealand.

I remember many fun happy times with Tim as he entertained children in schools, hospitals and car-parks over the years.

In Loving Memory of Tim Bray
From Jessie Ohanlon

I´ve been part of the Tim Bray Theatre Company since I was eight or nine years old - now I´m thirteen, nearly fourteen - and it´s been one of the most important parts of my life.

I´ve done a bunch of shows over the years, including The Santa Show in 2023, and from the very beginning, I felt welcomed and supported.

Tim Bray wasn´t just the founder of a theatre company - he was kind, warm, and full of heart. He made every young actor feel seen and valued.

He´s the reason I started acting. He´s the reason I´m still acting. Tim helped shape who I am today, and I´m so grateful to have grown up with his creativity, care, and belief in us all.

Thank you, Tim. We love you, and we miss you deeply.

Remembered and mourned by the Smart family. We have known the Bray family from before Tim's birth from our shared time in Kaikoura and visits in other locations around New Zealand. Condolences to Tim's immediate and extended family. Will be greatly missed by so many people.

Amazing Tim, such a wonderful, generous man who gave so much to so many. I was lucky enough to be part of Tim's plays in the earliest days of the Central Theatre, fun times! Giving joy and creative confidence to thousands of young people through theatre and through your many classes at TAPAC is the gift that will keep on giving. Tim you changed people's lives for the better , and that change will carry on throughout their lives and on to others. What a hero. Gone too soon that's for sure.
