Very saddened to hear of the passing of my friend Tommy. Sincere condolence to his family, extended family, friends and the Irish community
in Auckland whom Tommy was very much part of over many years.
Reminiscing about my first meeting with Tommy and his brothers in Auckland last centaury; I recall shortly after my arrival dropping into the 'The Astor Hotel' for supplies one Saturday afternoon and much to my amazement I found an Irish `Seisún´ in full swing. Not been much of an entertainer myself I was reluctant to join in the proceeding but the sheer number of the Tommy's brothers present give me little  choice and soon I too became a regular at these Irish `Seisún´ in the most unlikely of places. Where one might hear 'Moonlight in Mayo' been well sung by Hughie Mulligan one minute followed by Brendan Barry singing 'A boy named Sue' the next. Then a Polynesian choir might air their version of 'Lough Erne Shore' I might be a little biased but this was entertainment at its finest. Needless to say I got to know the Mulligan family well over the years and what a fine family they are. So my deepest sympatry to each and every one of you. Tommy you will be sadly missed, never forgotten and fondly remembered. May Tommy requiescat in pace.
