My condolences to the McGrory whanau for your sad loss. Tom who I knew as a school mate many years ago and more especially as the Captain of our fourth grade rugby team on leaving school .In the role he was immense and carried out his duties with great mana. I never did run into Tom after leaving P.Nth to teach in Taranaki and later in Pukekohe and later in my life in Scotland and then to Australia where I now live. The whanau should know I held Tom in the highest esteem. I am sad I will not be able to renew my friendship with my return next year for the Marist Rugby Centennial but you should all know we will miss him dearly and I am sure we willall toast his memory. Moe ma ra, haere, haere, haere.

My most wonderful memory of Tom, was being a little girl and one day not feeling very happy as my much loved Uncle Michael had recently died, I wandered down the road to visit the McGrorys and Tom was lying on his bed playing the most beautiful tune on his trumpet. I edged into the room and sat on the bed and his music comforted me in some way. He was always kind and sweet to us little girls up the road. Much love to you Carol and your family. With love, Chris Swan
