My Dad Frank Strange of Hikutaia has so much respect and honour for Tom, that when he spoke, it was as if Dad was speaking from the Irish forebears. Dad and Tom's mother Molly were 1st cousins and the Corbett's of Hikutaia were a close knit family. Thankyou Tom for sharing your recollections of the Keohane sisters and their descendants with us. Rest in peace.
Much loved cousin : John Strange

I have a photo of the Taumarunui primary School 1st xv taken over 60 years ago, a small boy, arms folded, legs crossed sitting next to the coach, Mr Brown. Another photo of the same boy getting athletic certificates from the Taumarunui Amature Athletic Assn, in the background my coach and mentor Mr Brown. Our paths have crossed over the years, Education, attending concerts at Papakura, evenings at the Lyons homestead at Mangatawhiri and finally a few years ago at the Taumarunui Primary School Centenial where many ex pupils such as I wanted to catch up.The regard, esteem and affection felt by so many for this man is truly remarkable and I am blessed to have had the positive influence that he brought to my childhood.

I had regular contact with Tom from 1973 until he went to sir Ed's. He was an education mentor to me. Whenever I needed to talk about my childrens' education I waited for his visit and he always gave the best advice. He was a caring man and will be sadly missed.

Among my earliest childhood memories is that of hearing Tom sing "Ave Maria" at family weddings in St. Joseph's Church in Pukekohe. Later, he became the family genealogist, wrote a "Browns of Tuakau" family history, and organized a wonderful family reunion in 1998 attended by relatives from other parts of the world. His warm heart, love of people, dedication to the profession of teaching, devotion to his family, gift of song so freely shared, and his strength of character were true blessings to all who knew him. Rest in Peace, Cousin Tom
