Rest in peace Sir Ian. You lectured me back in 1966 in Civil Procedure, then we later met socially and again I would appear before you in the early 1980's in the Rotorua High Court 'divorce days'. You were always a great humanitarian and will be sorely missed.

Throughout my political career I often received Sir Ian's willing friendly advice, both private and political. I will miss that private advice and will always retain fond memories of a great man.

BARKER, Justice Sir Ian (KC). Esteemed life member of the Railway Enthusiasts Society and Glenbrook Vintage Railway. Ian was one of our earliest supporters, and Life members. He gave legal advice to the society over many years, and was very well known and liked. Our condolences to his wife and family, he will never be forgotten within our Society, a kind and caring Man, full of Vigour. The President, committee, and members of the RES and GVR.
