BARKER, The Honourable Sir Ian K.C. Beloved husband of Mary, and precious father to Clare, John, Andrew, Mary Elizabeth and Lucy. Devoted and much loved grandfather to Jessica Barker, Mary Sophia Hay, George Barker, Timothy Barker, Joseph Hay, Joseph Barker, Saskia Barker, Olivia Taylor, Ben Taylor, Oscar McGillivray and Iris McGillivray. Dearest father-in-law to Wendy, Andy, Ashley, Andrew and Duncan. Treasured brother-in-law and uncle. A generous and honourable man in every way. A life greatly lived, in the law, in faith and in family. You are deeply loved and will be missed by very many. Requiem Mass will be celebrated at St Michael's Catholic Church, 6 Beatrice Road, Remuera on Friday 18th November at 2pm.

Rest in peace Sir Ian. You lectured me back in 1966 in Civil Procedure, then we later met socially and again I would appear before you in the early 1980's in the Rotorua High Court 'divorce days'. You were always a great humanitarian and will be sorely missed.

Throughout my political career I often received Sir Ian's willing friendly advice, both private and political. I will miss that private advice and will always retain fond memories of a great man.

BARKER, Justice Sir Ian (KC). Esteemed life member of the Railway Enthusiasts Society and Glenbrook Vintage Railway. Ian was one of our earliest supporters, and Life members. He gave legal advice to the society over many years, and was very well known and liked. Our condolences to his wife and family, he will never be forgotten within our Society, a kind and caring Man, full of Vigour. The President, committee, and members of the RES and GVR.
