My thoughts and prayers are with Janice Smith and all of Terrys extended family. Mum (Noeline Maathuis) would light up when talking to or about Terry, definitely a favourite cousin. Love to all.

We were very sad to hear that Terry had passed. A bright outgoing character...very talented, kind and generous...will always remember your wonderful words at Mum's (Colleen) funeral 4 years ago...your memory was just amazing....RIP...love to you all...

You have gone from this world and now on the path to heaven!
When I arrived in Timaru in 1996 to attend Aoraki Polytechnic on a PR course I somewhat `stumbled´ across your path!
You made my stay in Timaru a pleasant one, talking about the history of the town and of course the fabulous Basilica!
I will always remember your knowledge and collections of old movies etc!
I will never forget you my friend!

Terry was a great friend and mentor. I will always remember the love he had for his daughters and his grandchildren. Also his deep love for the Timaru district with his work on both the district council and the hospital board ( 38 years). He enjoyed every minute. Will miss lots. God bless you.

Deepest sympathy to Terry´s family and to Andrew. What happy memories we have of Terry as the people´s organist at The Basilica, happily playing and singing at the same time. How I recall his friendship, playing at Midnight Mass with the lights on his Christmas headgear blinking away, giving us a sense of what people were feeling when they gathered in church. Thank you Terry for your music, your energy and generosity to all. Rest in peace.
