Thanks for everything Stephen. You took me to a whole new level when it came to guitar playing at the Howick School of Music. Previous teachers never gave me the excitement to learn like you did, and I am ever so grateful for your words of wisdom.

I'll never forget what I got from you. Thank you.

It was with deep sadness that my children learned of Stephen's passing yesterday when they went for their weekly music lesson. He had been their music teacher for four and a half years. A gentle, kind and patient teacher and a talented musician...he will be missed. Our sincere condolences to the family.

Mr McIntyre was my guitar teacher, and had been for 1 and a half years. It was devastating to hear the news this morning as I went to my weekly class that used to be with him and finding out he was no more. He was an amazing guitar teacher. I want to send my love and condolences to Mr McIntyre's family. R.I.P. :'(

My love and thoughts go out to Steven's family at this tragic time. The gigs we played together were some of the most satisfying times of my youth and I feel priviledged to have known him. He was a kind, deeply sensitive, and beautiful person and made a big difference to my life. I'm so sad he's gone.

My thoughts go out to Stephen's family and close friends. Stephen's smile, in the afternoon sunlight in Tony Peake's house in London Street has remained with me throughout the years; and his love of music, the sounds of which crossed the hall when we flatted together for a short while in the mid-80s, was a source of admiration.

I am deeply saddened to hear that Stephen has passed away. I enjoyed my guitar lessons with him. I am sure all his students would say the same thing. He sings while he teaches the chords and spots who is doing it right and who is a bit off key. He was a fantastic teacher. Very patient and makes guitar playing accessible even for the less musically inclined.

I will surely be miss my guitar lessons. I will surely miss my teacher.

Hey Stephen, sorry you had to go so soon - thanks for all the music, I'll always remember your passion and integrity. I fondly remember those distant days of playing second bass in Ballon D'essai. I remember your joyfulness and the hilarious imaginary band the Berts. Rest now buddy. xMatt
