I am sorry that I missed Steves passing. I was a Detective with Steve in Rotorua. He gave me the nickname "Colombo" and it has stuck like glue ever since. I had kept in touch with Steve, via 'facebook. I was also aware of the the esteem he was held with in his community and was proud of him. All my love to his family. Wayne Chester

To Rosina Nick and families. We were saddened to hear of Steve's passing. Although we haven't crossed paths for a long time I remember him well at Nanas or Aunty Doreen's. It is always sad to lose a family member and we send you love at this difficult time. Cousin Bron and Bill xxxxx

Kia u to moe Steve, I retain fond memories of our time working together as Detectives in Rotorua Police mid 80's - you mentored me well when I joined the CIB, and then going on to complete 38 years in the Police and retiring at Superintendent level. I will never forget your unique personality and humour, resulting in a very special relationship. Rest well my friend - you certainly deserve it!

FARRELLY, Stephen Rex Cross (Steve). Passed away peacefully at Auckland City Hospital on 26 January 2025. Though life took us on different paths, we acknowledge the journey he walked, the choices he made and the impact he had in his own way. We hold onto those memories which bring comfort and not pain. He is survived by his children, Claire and Gary, daughter-in- law, Dharshi, grandchildren, Arielle, Lexi, Lachlan and Griffin, his former wife Lesli, who he shared an important chapter of his life with, and his siblings, Nick and Rosina. The Farrelly family welcome any messages of support. May he rest in peace alongside his father, Spencer, his mother Doreen and his brother Garry.

FARRELLY, Stephen Rex Cross (Steve). Passed away on 26 January 2025. Dearly loved brother of Rosina and brother-in-law of Ashley. This beautiful man with a generous heart, taken too soon. Special thanks to the staff at the Critical Care Ward of Auckland City Hospital for their exceptional care of Stephen. May peace and serenity be with you now, Big Brother.
