I knew the Brooker family in my youth in Karori when I was an Arnold. It was a great pleasure to meet Stephen again, much later when we were both associated with the Selwyn Foundation. We enjoyed his company- a wise man and a hard worker. Condolences from Rod and Chris Perkins

Stephen was looking for a position in a parish somewhere near to Greenlane Hospital which is where Leslie was being treated. So he entered the life of St Aidan's where I was the Vicar. Stephen and Leslie were marvellous. Stephen was trained in and practiced the skills of the old time parish ministry. I still remember with wonder the parish fair that he energised and ran. By far the best I have seen. After us he turned his skills to editing the "Anglican", our Diocesan Magazine which won several times the prize for best religious affairs magazine, I think for Australasia but not sure. If something involved imagination, hard work, involvement of others, all mixed in with plenty of good humour, then Stephen was your man. He will be missed. So may the light of Christ rest on him that he may rest in peace and rise in glory. The Rev. Harvey Smith

Sending our love and deepest sympathy to Stephens children and grandchildren in the sad loss of their beloved father and grandfather. Our association with Stephen has been a long one . He was a family friend of the Morgan family in Karori in the early `60s and then at St James Lower Hutt before and after his ordination some 60 years ago. His faith and his ministries took him far and wide here in NZ and overseas. Many memories of Stephen will always be with us. May he rest in peace and rise in Glory. David and Glenys Morgan( née Maunder) Waikanae.

Such wonderful memories of an amazingly special man who has been in my life, one way or another, for about 60 years. Too many memories to put here, but they´re locked in my heart.
From starting as a curate at St James Church (With Archdeacon Paddy Scott )in Lower Hutt (where he not only officiated at my wedding, but baptised all my children) with ministries in between, before coming to Auckland to finish his amazing life of dedication to his people and his Lord. RIP you wonderful wonderful man. Barb Stubbs (Kidd)
