So sad to hear the news of Simon's passing. Will always remember the fun times at Hokimai Bay on Kawau, laughing at all his outrageous stories. He was the best host and always a great chat. Rest in peace, Wade and Charlotte Barrance x

What a positive force of nature was Simon! We became friends during his Antipodes period and his visits to Dubai. I was flooded in with him one NZ ´summer´ and we snuggled up in blankets and read and talked for days. He entertained me at his place in Mexico. A true friend and awesome raconteur. My heart shattered when I learned that he was dying, but also softened and smiled when I remembered our special times together. You are missed Si.

So sad to hear of Simon´s passing and my condolences to his family and friends.
I worked for Simon at Metropole and have fond memories of making him his favourite chicken sandwiches frequently. I left when he sold the business.
In later years we caught up every time he visited Singapore and my family and I stayed with him at the `Antipodes´ farm.
He was a good boss, a lovely friend, the consummate host, and an all round wonderful human being. I´m gutted that I haven´t seen him recently.

I worked at metropole from about 1994 till he sold it. I left the day after he did. He was the MC at my first wedding in December 1996 because he was the only person who knew both me and my husband equally. I adored him. I saw him again in NY when I was pregnant with twins and I went to his orphans Christmas in 1997. Then we lost touch. I remember him fondly and with love. What a wonderful, clever, brave man he was. My deepest condolences. Love Emma Fox
