Simon GORDON Obituary

Gordon, Simon Patrick. It is with heavy hearts that we announce that he sadly passed away on 26th July. Cherished husband of Lynette, beloved father of Monique and Austin. An uncle, brother and friend who touched so many lives with his quick wit, enthusiasm and humour. He spent his final moments doing what he loved most - playing tennis, a sport that brought him endless joy throughout his life. As John McEnroe once said "You cannot be serious." A quote that perfectly captured Simon's sense of humour and love of competition. Funeral details still to be organised. Any correspondence to [email protected] for updates.

Earlier today

I played tennis and interclub with Simon at Remuera Rackets and he was a valuable member of a group of us who played every Wednesday morning at 6:30 a.m.
There is always a lot of banter during these sessions, and Simon gave as good as he got-like all of us he definitely enjoyed the laughs just as much as the tennis.
We were sad to lose "one of the team" when he moved to Sydney, although he remained active in our WhatsApp group and continued contributing to the banter from afar.
We are all of a similar age to Simon, so it has been a real shock to lose someone who was hitting with us only a couple of months ago. It´s difficult to reconcile.
We send our condolences to Simon´s family and are sorry we cannot be in Sydney for the funeral.
I´m sure he will be hitting his very unorthodox but effective one-handed, topspin, backhand somewhere in heaven now..................swing loose Simon (but then he always did ).

Hi

Condolences to family and friends.

I had the privilege of working with Simon first at Heartland and then at Avanti. I all we worked together for over 15 years.
I always remember Simon as the king of the chart, and based on numbers that he has reconciled within an inch of their lives.....he was a value colleague and always worked with a lightness and humility that was endearing.

He will be missed....

Yesterday

When I first met Simon Gordon, we were in the Sydney Olympic Park office. I was having lunch, and he sat at the other end of the lunch table. He was very friendly and open to discussion. Wanted to know what I did and invited me to tell him everything! Opened arms, quick wit and sense of humour. We talked of the possibility of an office opening in Brisbane...
We are all diminished by this loss, and the world feels a little less brilliant without his light. While I may not have known Simon as well as some, I could always appreciate his unique perspective on life.

I was saddened to hear of Simon´s passing. Though I did not know Simon for a long time, it was immediately clear that he was a man of dedication and integrity; both professionally and personally.

His warm and thoughtful presence enriched our workplace, and his contributions left a meaningful mark.

Simon will be truly missed, not only for his commitment and professionalism but for the kindness he brought to those around him. My thoughts are with his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
